RHYTHM N’ RIGHTS Mission Statement

Objectives:
To increase and strengthen a human rights presence in local communities.

To galvanize local communities through outreach at concerts and musical events, into a more influencial force for human rights.

Rhythm N’ Rights (RN’R) has an historic tradition since the mid 1990’s of engaging our local communities in global human rights issues.  It empowers volunteers to be leaders in carrying out activism for a number of human rights abuses and concerns.

Volunteers and activists work together toward common goals like freeing prisoners of conscience; ending the death penalty, human trafficking, and torture; workers rights, and working towards improving the human rights of all people.

RN’R was formed to use concerts and music as a way to foster outreach by local volunteers and activists.  It creates opportunities for these volunteers and activists to engage and encourage people in their community to take action and stand up for human rights and social justice.

RN’R provides an avenue for education about current human rights and social justice concerns, and the work being done to combat abuses.  It augments impact by increasing the number of letters and petition signatures on the cases and issues -- by activists in their own community.

In these efforts, Rhythm N’ Rights
--Immediately connects volunteers and activists to RN’R issues of concern, ---Enhances community visibility of a human rights and social justice approach to issue.
--Strengthens area/regional collaboration amongst volunteers and activists.
--Educates the public about human rights and social justice issues.
--Creates volunteer opportunities by providing space to table at concerts.
--Stimulates activism for all ages and backgrounds.
-Impacts governmental practices and policies.
